Wyoming is leading the nation in AI education. It is the first state in the country to offer a statewide AI literacy course to every public high school student, along with a microcredential students can show employers and colleges after graduation. The Wyoming Department of Education has partnered with Evergreen Education to offer Everwise, a self-paced AI literacy course for grades 9–12. It is available to all Wyoming public high schools at no cost to districts.
What it is. Everwise is a self-contained course of about 15 hours of online learning. It combines short video lessons, student discussions, interactive activities, and reflection. Students who finish earn a state-backed AI literacy microcredential. The course is built on Evergreen’s K-12 AI Literacy Competency Framework, which is part of Wyoming’s statewide AI plan.
